Services
Worship is the place where we come to know God in prayer, music, inspirational preaching, and meaningful time together as a community of faith. In worship we come to be touched by God’s presence and spirit. Each of our spirit-filled worship services offers a distinctive style and flavor in an open and inviting setting. If you want to worship in a community where your mind is challenged, your faith is ignited, and your heart is prepared to go out into the world, then try worshiping with us!
We have three opportunities for Sunday morning worship at Tempe First UMC.
- 8:00 a.m. - Intimate, meditative worship with Holy Communion and preaching offered each week. We usually meet in the Fireside Building of the Church.
- 9:30 a.m. - Traditional worship for contemporary people featuring music of our adult sanctuary and children’s choirs, with hymns, liturgy and organ accompaniment. Most Sundays children six and older come into the service and remain for the first half hour. We are very committed to introducing children and families to the idea of worshiping God together.
- 11:30 a.m. - The Journey: an alternative service for those who enjoy jazz, blues, contemporary and global music offered by a live band. The Journey community provides a variety of meaningful worship experiences that run from traditional liturgy to newer ways of encountering God in worship - all of them innovative and inclusive.
Loving and safe child care is provided at each service.
Come and find the presence of God as you worship with us.
