We invite you to experience the presence of God's spirit renewing your life as faith grows in your heart, soul, and mind. As a diverse community of faith, we have found that faith is not a simple recipe or prescription for belief, but an invitation to a loving relationship with a living God who transforms our life. Faith for us is a journey of discovery of who we are as God’s people, and how God calls us to grow in our spiritual life and our service to the world around us. Wherever you may find yourself on your spiritual journey, we invite you to find a spiritual home with us.

You are welcome to visit our community of faith at Tempe First UMC. In all that we do, we want to be a faith-forming community. In other words, whether you join us for worship, a class, a service project, or a social gathering, we want you to experience God in a way that deepens your faith. In this way, our spiritual life matures and deepens through our worship, our learning, our searching, our service and our questions.

We are a downtown church, engaged in many exciting ministries of service and outreach to our urban, university environment. We minister to many people here in the community, and service to our neighbor is an important part of our life together. Our congregation provides showers, meals, shelter, fellowship and a variety of other forms of support to our homeless neighbors. We are active in service programs beyond Tempe, and beyond Arizona. Tempe First UMC hosts the United Methodist campus ministry, the Wesley Foundation. We have vibrant music and education programs. In all of these things, we find that our hearts are warmed, and our commitment to God and neighbor grows stronger.

I look forward to speaking with you about how we can grow together to know the fullness of God in your life.
